[edit] Plot summary
Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.
This tale is told from the perspective of an old man (Booth), a resident of a small New England town that neighbors ’Salem’s Lot. He details the events that took place one winter's night years ago, during a ferocious snowstorm, when he and his friend, Tookey, attempted to rescue the family of a stranded motorist. Instead, they barely manage to save themselves from the man's wife and daughter, who had been turned into vampires.
