"Heartbeat / Tragedy" 1998 |
One for Sorrow was a hit single for Steps, a pop group from the UK. It was the group's first single to make it to the Top 5 on the UK charts. Debuting at #2 and spending 11 weeks on the British charts, this song firmly established Steps's intent to revive the ABBA sound, being clearly influenced by (if not virtually a direct copy of) their song The Winner Takes It All. A remixed version of this song is also featured on the Drive Me Crazy movie soundtrack and released in the U.S. during the summer of 1999 when Steps opened for Britney Spears.
The B-side single is Too Weak to Resist.
[edit] Chart Success
Selling almost 400,000 copies in the UK alone, "One for Sorrow" spent 6 weeks in the top 20 and fell off the charts in November 1998 after the release of their biggest single ever.
