Onaping, Ontario

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Onaping is a community in the Ontario city of Greater Sudbury.

In the early 1960's the village of Onaping was a Falconbridge mining town. It became part of the town of Onaping Falls, in the Regional Municipality of Sudbury. On January 1, 2001, the Regional Municipality was dissolved into the single-tier City of Greater Sudbury.

Nesteled amongst scenic lakes, classic Sudburian rock peaks and young forest, Onaping is very welcoming to those who embrace Northern living and outdoor life.

Recreational activities include downhill skiing, curling, hockey and other arena activities, camping, fishing, hunting, ski-doo trail riding, canoeing and other lake activities, as well as events offered at the local community centre.
