[edit] WikiProject Musicals

Hi! I'm leaving you this message because your name is listed as a participant in WikiProject Musicals (previously WikiProject Broadway) or I feel you may be interested in the project. It seems that the project has laid dormant for quite awhile, but I would like to work toward getting it up and operative. I have a few ideas that I've outlined on the talk page, and would love your input. Working together, I think we can signifigantly improve the quality of the articles relating to musicals on Wikipedia. —  MusicMaker 06:20, 28 June 2006 (UTC)

Thank you so much for the invite. I would love to join and have placed my name on the page as a participant. I also will add some of the "working files" I have been developing to the page in hopes that this will assist in creating a "things to do" catagory. omtay38 04:12, 29 June 2006 (UTC)
Excellent! One word of caution, however: you can't create an article called "Missing Musicals" in the main namespace. Meaning, "Missing Musicals" is inappropriate as an encyclopedia article; outside of Wikipedia, there's nothing called "Missing Musicals" -- see what I mean? It will just end up being deleted. We can definitely create that page, but it would have to be a subpage of something else: most likely of the project page. I'm going to be setting up an article assessment page (at some point) -- this would be the place to list uncreated articles.
Also, we're still tweaking {{Infobox Musical}}. I've noticed that one of your tasks is going through and adding it to various articles -- which is great -- but it would probably be a good idea to hold off on adding any more of them until we get it "finalized". That way, we only have to add it to the article once instead of having to go back and fix things, you know? Just saves everyone a lot of time.
Thanks again for your input, and I look forward to working with you.

Oops -- you did create it as a subpage of the project. My bad. —  MusicMaker 04:59, 29 June 2006 (UTC)
It's alright, I wasn't quite sure I put it in the right place either
I read through the talk page on the project and, thus, will stop adding infoboxes till the box is finished being finalized, however, I have added the sorted list of artices with infoboxes to the page for future use and with a notice that none should be changed till the box is finalized.
I also have looked through the main discussion page and have taken the most predominant questions and added them to the /General discussion page.
I am an avid Musical enthusiast and hope I can be of whatever help possible to this project. :-D omtay38 05:08, 29 June 2006 (UTC)
Awesome! Good work on the whole. There's a mockup of the new template here. Any suggestions, join our discussion on his talk page.
I want to start going through the List of musicals and put a template on the talk pages of everything. That way, we'll be able to create an Article Assessment page using "What links here". I'm probably going to start a task page so people can sign up for certain letters of the alphabet so we aren't criss-crossing over each other.
Thanks again! —  MusicMaker 08:10, 29 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks for the advice

Omtay38,

Thank you for your notification concerning talk pages. I was not aware of the policy in question, but I suppose it is a little rude to remove others comments thanks for bringing it to my attention Rpgsimmaster 08:28, 28 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks

Thanks for reverting the vandalism on my user page. -- Gogo Dodo 04:02, 31 July 2006 (UTC)

No prob! You do it so often for others, I thought you deserved the same! Cheers! --omtay38 05:02, 31 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] BookHopper

Hi Omtay38 I'm sorry that you deleted my posting about BookHopping. I am a virgin Wikipedian and didn't realise I was contravening any standards.

Ok, thanks for the comments on my discussion page - it's good to get a few tips as to the protocols for these things. I agree with your feedback. I thought if I started with a small article then it would grow over time. I'll have a good think about what I'd like to have as a definition of a BookHopper and BookHopping and post something without reference to the site. If it makes any difference BookHopper is a free service which doesn't make money. Thanks for the chat anyway, Neil (BookHopper)

Oh - pps, the two entries were almost the same because I made a mistake in the inputting and by the time I had gone back to put the correct entry into BookHopping you'd marked it for deletion. You're just too quick for me ;) Never mind, Neil.

[edit] Speedy deletion

I noticed that you tagged the page BookHopper for speedy deletion with the reason "Seems like an Advertisement. See BookHopping". However, "Seems like an Advertisement. See BookHopping" is not currently one of our criteria for speedy deletion, so I have removed the speedy deletion tag. You can use Wikipedia:Articles for deletion if you still want the page to be deleted. Thanks! Stifle (talk) 22:43, 31 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Thank you

Thanks so much for my barnstar! I'm quite flattered. I did revert what the IP you mentioned added back to the Dean Koontz and talking point articles, and although I can't use an anti-vandal tool right now (which is actually how I can watch the IPs in question easily, so don't give me too much credit), I do have the former article on my watchlist and I am adding the second now.
It sure is a pain to deal with persistent edits from dynamic IPs, isn't it? Anyway, I'll try to keep an eye on this guy. Thanks again, and happy editing! -- Omicronpersei8 (talk) 17:27, 1 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Saab Bofors Dynamics

It would be incorrect to merge Saab Bofors Dynamics with Bofors, in fact it would be a move in the wrong direction. Saab Bofors Dynamics is a subsidiary of Saab AB and although an outgrowth of the generic Bofors, as is BAE Systems Bofors, they no longer share a common corporate culture. The Bofors page must be rewritten to reflect the historic company and its products up until the division of the companies, but should only include products and history that do not belong to the two current companies. Merging Saab Bofors Dynamics with Bofors would be like merging the US with Great Britain. ColinMarble 06:59, 03 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Welcoming

Hey, I just saw one of your welcome edits, and there's a bit of a problem...You're only supposed to paste them on the user's talk page. The talk page is for messages, whereas the user page is for the user to use as he/she sees fit. Michael 04:35, 5 August 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the message. Which user page was it? I know they're posted on the talk page so it was probably an honest mistake. I'm assuming you've fixed it but if not, just tell me which page it was and i'll do so. Thanks! --Michael 04:37, 5 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Albert B. Smith not a hoax

Please search for Albert B. Smith on the following page:

http://www.sandiegohistory.org/journal/69winter/part4.htm

I believe this a reliable source that recounts his history in San Diego.

[edit] Barnstar

Thank you, Omtay38. It's my first Barnstar! I'll display it proudly on my userpage. Thank you again. :) Michael 04:51, 5 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Message from Olive Garden Guild

Hey, sorry about the deleting the artical thingy or whatever, must have incorrectly read directions. :D--Olive Garden Guild 05:19, 5 August 2006 (UTC)Olive Garden Guild

[edit] Message from SwedishConqueror

Hi, I'm SwedishConqueror. I was wondering if you could help me with one thing: whenever I write an article, everything I've typed gets moved over to the side of the screen in a straight line horizontally instead of advancing down the screen. Is there something wrong with my computer? Is there something I need to download?

SwedishConqueror

"Thanks"

That really helped. I didn't realize that you couldn't do indents. But what are those squiggly things you are talking about? Where do I put those? What exactly is it that they do? --SwedishConqueror

[edit] How do you decide to...

Just wondering how you become a welcomer? Very new and just curious. Thanks! --Quick study4

[edit] Thanks, dude.

Sorry if this is late but thank you for getting rid of that pointless link off of the Magic Woman M artical. This person is trying to sockpuppeting his second account, doesn't he? Well, if he does that again, just get rid of him. Thank you very much for a help. Girla PurpleHeart 21:37, 10 August 2006 (UTC)

"Hi Again"

Sorry to bother you, but there are a few things I'd like to know. How do you make the headings go all black when you want to make a section? Also, how do you make things go blue, and how do you know when to do that?

[edit] You seem very advanced..

I am impressed with your brain. Just thought I would say that. I'm 28 and I know I wasn't that sharp in high school. Did you skip grades or are you in gifted classes? Just curious as usual. Good job. Quick study4 23:24, 18 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] =)

Thanks for the smile! It's adorable. And I noticed that no one's given you a barnstar yet for everything that you've done for Wikipedia's musical theatre pages, so here you go:

The Barnstar of High Culture
For massive amounts of excellent work on Wikiproject Musicals! --Drenched 20:02, 21 August 2006 (UTC)
OMG! Thank you soooo much! My first Barnstar! ::Squee:: You shall see it on my user page shortly :-D. --omtay38 01:14, 22 August 2006 (UTC)

Hey "omtay"! I didn't know you were a wiki editor! Let me know if you find anything I could be helpful with.

[edit] Image:DHSX-Hall.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:DHSX-Hall.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. -- – Quadell (talk) (random) 17:22, 3 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Nice toolbox

Hi, it looks as if you've been doing some good work around this site, and unlike me you've managed to step back and take a break for quite some time... I found your Tools page useful, and have bookmarked it for future reference. As it sounded as if you wouldn't mind, I also "vandalised" a few typos on your user page. Best wishes for your studies! [edit] Come back!

I see you've been gone an awful long time. I hope you come back soon. The Musicals project needs you! -- Ssilvers 19:17, 8 February 2007 (UTC)
