IMHO the article is correctly has to renamed Omsk region of the Russian Federation. (region is a translation of the russian word oblast).—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 195.162.60.7 (talk • contribs).

This was discussed at length many times before. The bottom line is that "region" is too vague and unspecific, and that "oblast" is considered to be a legit loanword listed in major English dictionaries and encyclopedias (example).
