[edit] History

Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.

Omega was an extremely powerful reploid created by the scientist Dr.Weil by modifying Zero's original body sometime before the events of the Elf Wars (a massive world wide battle), which preceded the events of Mega Man Zero and in the timeframe of the Mega Man X series.

According to the Japanese Source book, "Rockman Zero Official Complete Works", sometime during the middle of the Maverick Wars, the Maverick Hunter known as Zero decided to seal himself away for 102 years with the specific intention of "removing" a component that he believed still made him a serious danger (Presumably the Virus and his own unique ability to easily pass it on to other reploids, even against his will). During this time period (which may or may not have lasted the intended 102 years), Zero's mind was removed from his body, and his body and the unique properties of the virus were extensively studied for the sake of eventually creating the unique anti-virus Cyber Elf, known then as the Mother Elf, which eventually was used by X to end the Maverick Wars. Eventually, Dr. Weil located this mindless shell, reprogrammed it with the mind of a new reploid, awakened the body's power to its full potential, and created a massive body of armour to contain Zero's original body within its core and control its massive powers. He named this creation Omega. This body was also intended to be compatible with the Mother Elf/Dark Elf in order to enhance its powers even further. Weil used his creation extensively to cause massive destruction during the world-wide conflict known as the Elf Wars. In response, a copy of Zero's body was created, and Zero's dormant mind was loaded into it so that he could fight against Weil and Omega in the Elf Wars.

Although he was powerful, and wreaked havoc in the Elf Wars, he was defeated soundly by Zero and Megaman X using a Final Strike (this is stated in drama tracks of Remastered Tracks Rockman Zero TELOS) and he was confined to a massive spaceship and sentenced to exile in space, while Weil was banished from Neo Arcadia and forced to live a life of eternal exile.

However, in the events of Mega Man Zero 3, Weil somehow managed to release Omega's ship from orbit and began his plans for revenge on humanity. When the three remaining Guardians came to investigate the crash, Omega promptly fought them and proved to be more than a match for them. He would have killed them outright had Zero not arrived and defeated him. Despite being defeated, however, Omega seemed ready to battle again.

He was promptly stopped by Dr. Weil, who told him that he was to fight with the Guardians from then on as a Neo Arcadian.

Later when Copy X MkII and Dr. Weil found the Dark Elf in a human district, they placed Omega in a gigantic missile and fired him at the Dark Elf's location. Zero attempted to stop it, but failed, and not only did the missile destroy the area but Omega also absorbed the Dark Elf, becoming more powerful, his armour taking on a golden coloration. Harpuia leapt in to try and destroy Omega, but was easily defeated.

Dr. Weil then proceeded to use Omega to take control of all the Reploids in the world with the power of the Dark Elf, until Zero finally confronted him. Zero once again defeated Omega, causing Omega to transform into the three-headed Fusion Omega (one that was Omega's own head, one that resembled X's head and one that resembled Zero's head). However, Zero once again defeated Omega.

The battle had weakened the floor and both Omega's remains and Zero fell down to the floor below, which just happened to be the area in which Zero had lain dormant for a century or more. Weil then revealed that Zero was using a copied body, and revealed that Omega inhabited Zero's original (and presumably more powerful) body. In the last stage of Mega Man Zero 3, after a long battle, Omega was again defeated and Zero would have finished him off had the Dark Elf not interfered. However, with some help, the Dark Elf was released from her curse and Zero could then destroy his original body and Omega with it.

[edit] Personality

Omega seems to be a reploid that naturally seems to revel in death and destruction for his enemies, as well as an undying loyalty for his creator. After his exile, Omega also develops a deep hatred for Zero, as well as an inferiority complex, forever trying to prove he is more powerful. He also becomes quite arrogant after he gains a position of power, but in the end is still defeated. His personality might be what was intended for Zero by Dr. Wily before his awakening prior to Mega Man X.

[edit] Mega Man ZX

Omega, in Zero's original body, along with several other bosses from the Mega Man Zero series, makes a cameo appearance as a hidden optional boss and corresponding Model (an alternate form the protagonist can transform into) in Mega Man ZX. Interestingly enough while fighting Omega Zero the screen flashs (mildly) back to the area where Zero both was sealed and ultimately defeated Omega, as he explodes the screen fully flashs back to that area for the player to see. Unlike the other Models, the Omega Model is not given by a Biometal, but by a "mysterious rock" that Flueve states is a special type of Biometal. (Fleuve states it has a "funny glow" as well) [1]
