Omeath

Omeath (Irish: Ó Méith) is a village in County Louth close to the border with Northern Ireland. Omeath steeped in Irish history, with spectacular scenery on the east coast of Ireland. It is roughly mid way between Dublin and Belfast, very near the County Louth and County Armagh / County Down border. Omeath is approximately 4 miles from Carlingford and about 5 miles from Newry.
It is named for Ó Muireadhaigh Méith (méith= the fat) and was originally called Ó Méith Mara-by the sea - to distinguish it from another Ó Méith named after the same man.
Omeath is home to the Cuchulainn Gaels GAC.
