The Oman national football team is the national team of Oman and is controlled by the Oman Football Association. It has never qualified for the World Cup, having come closest in the 1998 World Cup tournament, when they lost in the final qualifying match against South Korea. Had Oman won the match, they would have qualified for the tournament, but despite leading 1-0 with 4 minutes remaining, they lost 2-1 and were eliminated.
