Omaha Burke High School

Burke High School is a secondary school located in Omaha, Nebraska. It is the most recently built high school of Omaha Public Schools. As of 2006 the acting principle is Dr. Connie Eichhorn. The school's mascot is the Bulldogs.

Each year in May, the Nebraska State Track Meet is held at the school, with hundreds of people present to watch and to compete.

Burke High School is a school known for its music program and talent of its singers. The hard work of director Merlin Lempke is the main reason for the success of the groups at Burke. The musicals at Burke tend to be very successful and called the best in town. The show choir at Burke is also a very important aspect of the music department. They have seen great success in the past year.

[edit] Academic Decathlon

Another thing the school is known for is its Academic Decathlon team. The school has participated in the Academic Decathlon competition for 11 years, and won state 6 times. Their arch rival is Creighton Preparatory School. Burke also holds the record for the highest Super Quiz score ever scored by a Nebraska team, which is 52/60.
