Om Prakash Chautala

Om Prakash Chautala (Hindi: ओम प्रकाश चौटाला) (born January 1, 1935) is an Indian politician from the state of Haryana. He is the leader of the INLD (Indian National Lok Dal), a Harayana based political party in India. He is also a former Chief Minister of the state. In the 2005 Haryana state assembly elections, INLD lost its majority, winning just 9 out of the 90 seats compared to the Congress party's 67 seats. Chautala resigned and Bhupinder Singh Hooda became the Chief Minister of Haryana.
Chautala is the eldest son of Chaudhari Devi Lal, a former deputy prime minister of India.

To immortalize the legacy of Chaudhary Devi Lal, the late Chief Minister of Haryana and Deputy Prime Minster of India, who was also his father,he spent scores of public money in creating life size statues of his father in almost every city in Haryana, renamed public institutions after Chaudhary Devi Lal.
