Dr. Olivia 'Liv' Barber Hastings Winters, MD was a fictional character in the CBS soap opera The Young and the Restless. Actress Tonya Lee Williams originated the role in 1990 and departed in 2005.

[edit] Dr. Winters

Olivia, until recently, was a doctor at Genoa City Memorial Hospital, and is mother of Nate Hastings (Bryant Jones). She was married to Nathan Hastings (Adam Lazarre-White) and then to Malcolm Winters (Shemar Moore). Olivia, an honest and principled woman, is keenly aware of the importance of doing the right thing. She lives by the code words 'duty' and 'responsibility', however, because of this, she is often quick to judge those who do not live by the same morals. Although, she is also known for her compassion, kindness and forgiveness.

Liv is very close to her aunt, Mamie Johnson (Veronica Redd). However, Olivia's relationship with her sister, Drucilla (Victoria Rowell), is somewhat bumpy. She has always remained close to her brother-in-law, Neil Winters (Kristoff St. John), and was even once involved with him. Perhaps Olivia's most notable lapse in judgement was when her best friend, Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson), battled breast cancer. Olivia did her best to be there for Ashley and her family, but soon found herself attracted to Ashley's husband, Brad Carlton (Don Diamont). The two slept together, but nothing became of it.

Since then, Olivia saw little in the way of storyline and soon faded into the background. Her current whereabouts have not been addressed on-screen.
