Oleksandr Krasotov

Oleksandr Krasotov or Alexander Krasotov (Олександр Красотов), (born May 5, 1936 in Odessa) is a Ukrainian composer.

At Odessa State A.V.Nezhdanova Conservatoire Krasotov made his studies in composition (Prof. T.Maljukova), piano (Prof. B.Charkovs'kyi) and musicology (Prof. A.Kogan) and graduated in 1959.
From 1959 to 1964 he studied at the Moscow State Conservatory where he got master-courses from Prof. Y.A. Fortunatov and Prof. N.I. Peiko.
In 1969 Krasotov was given title Doctor of Arts.
He currently works as Invited Professor of Composition at the Conservatoire of Music in Tianjin, China, where is is also giving master-courses.

As a versatile composer, Oleksandr Krasotov's works comprise symphonies and operas, musicals and theater music, oratories, cantatas, chamber music, jazz music and songs. He has participated in various national and international competitions where his works have been honoured with many prizes:
- 1967 he was Laureate of the Regional E. E. Bagryts'kyi Prize
- 1967, 1971, 1983: All-Ukrainian Competition in Kyiv
- International competitions (Berlin, 1973; Tokio, 1992)
- Honoured in Art of Ukraine (1987).
