Oleg Grabar

Oleg Grabar is a historian and archeologist, specializing in the field of Islamic art and architecture.

Grabar obtained a Ph.d. from Princeton University in 1955. He served on the faculty of the University of Michigan in 1954-69, before receiving an appointment as professor at Harvard University. Grabar became Aga Khan Professor of Islamic Art and Architecture in 1980 and stayed at Harvard until 1990, when he joined the Institute for Advanced Study. He has been Emeritus professor since 1998.
