[edit] Arlington County, Project of the Week

I saw that you recently edited Arlington County, Virginia. It is just one vote away from being the US project of the week. But if it fails to get that one vote before Sunday, it will be dropped altogether. Please consider voting for it. Thank you. Thesmothete 05:13, 29 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Saadiyat Island

I see you changed the estimate for the Guggenheim project on Saadiyat Island from $400 million to $200 million and back again. I'm not being critical - I'm just interested in sources for these estimates. Where does the $400m estimate come from? Le poulet noir 15:18, 19 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Wrightspeed X1 gallery

Greetings OG:

In the interest of clarification, what is the objection to the entries in the gallery? Do you want me to put all of them in the Ariel Atom article? Please note that this set of images are referenced from there via a reference to this article. If placed thare I would have to explain that it is not an Ariel shown but rather a Wrightspeed (note that the front springs are assembled in a different order). Also technical image gallary was arranged in the fashion of what would be seen during a walk-around and so form a complete set of images, and they are not of a conventional Ariel.

As far as the lead image, the tiny postage stamp size below the logo was (IMHO) rather ugly. You will note that I reduced the size in the hope of avoiding conflicts over layout and size. Too often I see little consideration for page layout and article flow, but realize that that is the nature of WP owing to the fragmented edits that occur. Also, what do you mean by too personal. That is not me standing near the vehicle, rather it is Mr. Wright. Unfortunately that was the only overall view that I had that was appropriate for inclusion.

And concerning the automobiles project, I was unaware of this - writing automobile articles is only incidental to my interest in battery electric vehicles.

Best wishes, Leonard G. 16:46, 21 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] forex

i noted your change to the foreign exchange market article, in particular "forex scams mentioned too often." I mostly disagree. Probably the majority of readers looking at the article are interested in it because they have been approached about trading retail forex. this is a market that retail traders really don;t stand a chance in, yet scamming is big business because the regulators have let retail forex fall through the cracks. there has been huge activity on the page with spam added almost everyday to get people to go to scammers websites. I don't think that an encyclopedia article should be used like this (recruiting for scammers) so I think I'll add the forex scams 1/2 sentence back into the intro.

the other side is the "retail forex" section - in which scams are probably mentioned too much, or at least this section seems somewhat non-encyclopedic. I take it that this is from some people who have been scammed and attach this problem with some passion, some special knowledge (that neveer makes it into more quoteable forms) and I'd love to see this section edited in a sympathitic way - well make it NPOV in keeping with policy, but please do understand where some of these editors are coming from.

I hope this will satisfy all involved and I'll also try to make NPOV edits to the retail traders section. Smallbones 14:33, 2 August 2006 (UTC)

Hello OG, I noticed that you have also edited on the Crane-Simplex article so I thought I would contact you regarding merging the Smith and Mabley and Crane-Simplex articles, hoping for some input. Jonathan Versen 01:28, 16 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Wikiproject Automobiles Notification

Hi Old Guard, you were on the list of members at WikiProject Automobiles and we are introducing a new way of listing members, as the old list was becoming too long. Our new method involves having all of our members in a category.

To add yourself to the category just add the userbox to your user page by putting {{Wiki Auto Project}} where you want the userbox. Alternatively if you don't like the userbox you can add [[Category:WikiProject Automobiles members|Old Guard]] to your userpage.

If you no longer wish to be a member of the project, simply don't add the userbox or category, there's no pressure. Thanks for your time, James086Talk | Contribs 04:14, 17 December 2006 (UTC)

As the instigator of the project I want to welcome you to the Motorcycling WikiProject. Hopefully you have a good time, start many new articles and can contribute lots to the existing ones as we need that. Cheers ww2censor 04:37, 10 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Speedy deletion of Manhattanization

A tag has been placed on Manhattanization, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:

article is about a neologism that's seen use a handful of times and seems to be synonymous with urban high-rise development, see Wikipedia:Avoid neologisms

Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as an appropriate article, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is appropriate, you may contest the tagging. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.
