Oldmachar Academy is a Scottish Secondary School or comprehensive school situated in the Bridge of Don suburb of Aberdeen, Scotland and established in 1982.
Comprising 1,075 pupils from 1st to 6th year, the school receives Primary 7 pupils from the 5 associated Primary schools in an Associate Schools Group. These schools are: Danestone Primary, Forehill Primary, Glashieburn, Middleton Park Primary and pupils from the Dubford area who attend Greenbrae Primary School.
[edit] The school day
The school day consisted of 5 separate units that lasted for 65 minutes, except on Tuesdays in which teachers have a meeting and pupils are released 25 minutes early. But from Monday May 29, 2006 the times changed and 2 extra units were added. Now on Mondays and Tuesdays there are 6 units and on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays there are 5. Teachers' meetings are now on Wednesdays, chaired by local radio personality and honorary school president John "Groovy" McRuvie.
