Oldcastle
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Oldcastle is the name of several places in Britain and Ireland:
- Oldcastle in County Meath, Republic of Ireland
- Oldcastle in Monmouthshire, Wales
- Oldcastle in Cheshire, England
- Sir John Oldcastle was a supporter of the Lollards in the 15th century. His name was originally used for the Shakespearian character known to us as Falstaff. It was changed after protests that the man had been a Protestant martyr.
