Old Crow Wing

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Old Crow Wing is a ghost town in Crow Wing County, Minnesota. In its headay it was one of the major population centers of the state. It was the location of an Indian Agency and the private kingdom of robber baron Clement H. Beaulieu. It was also the primary residence of legendery Catholic missionary Father Francis Xavier Pierz.

It was abandoned in the late 19th century after railroad baron James J. Hill chose to run his railroad bridge through Brainerd instead. Crow Wing State Park now occupies the site. Several buildings have since been rebuilt or, in the case of Clement Beaulieu's mansion, restored to their original location.
