[edit] Menu Items
Old Country Buffet restaurants feature a wide spread of menu items, in the following categories:
- Salads (Pre-made salads, as well as a standard salad bar, with a large number of ingredients with which customers can make their own)
- Meats (At least three carved meats are always offered at dinner, along with traditional fare such as fried fish or baked chicken)
- Entrees (Casseroles, side items, as well as hot breads and vegetables)
- Soup (A minimum of two soups are offered, they are usually placed near the salad bar)
- Desserts (A large number of cakes, pies, and other related goodies. Several sugar-free items are available, as well as soft-serve ice cream with appropriate toppings). On selected weekdays, banana splits and the "Flurry" dessert is offered (the flurry is very similar to Dairy Queen's Blizzard)
- Beverages (All buffets come with unlimited beverages [except for Nogales, AZ locations]). Restaurants offer Coca-Cola products, as well as milk, iced tea, coffee, and water.
Menu items change daily, but a set weekly schedule is usually established. Restaurants offer both a lunch buffet, as well as a dinner buffet. The dinner buffet features items not featured on the lunch buffet.
Participating restaurants offer a weekend breakfast buffet, featuring a make-your-own-omelet station, where omelets are made to-order.
[edit] Mascot
Old Country Buffet restaurants have created a bee mascot, derived from its popular nickname "OCB." The "OC Bee" makes periodic appearances at select locations, taking the form of an employee dressed in a bee costume.
