[edit] RED STORE at CAPON SPRINGS, WV

This building is permanently etched in my mind since I've passed it at least once a year since 1957. Many a day I jogged the quarter mile down the Capon Springs Road to the red store during my family's vacations to the Capon Springs resort. I recall one summer evening when 8 of us teenagers piled into a WV bug, and drove to the store to buy candy or popsicles and browse. The store has been vacant and boarded up for years and years, but someone seems to keep it pristeen on the outside. It's a well known landmark in the area, and I inwardly smile as I drive past it each autumn on my return to the my favorite getaway in the world.
