Olaf Wildeboer

Olaf Wildeboer (born March 4, 1983 in Sabadell, Catalonia) is a freestyle swimmer. He is of Dutch origin. His parents, both born and raised in Holland, moved to Spain in 1978, and settled in Sabadell, where his father Paulus Wildeboer became the head coach of the local swimming club, called Club Natación Sabadell.

There both Olaf and his younger brother Aschwin, a backstroke swimmer, were raised. They both represented Spain at the 2004 Summer Olympics, where Olaf was eliminated in the semi finals of the Men's 200m Freestyle.

After the 2005 World Aquatics Championships in Montreal, Canada he decided to leave Spain, and started to train in the Netherlands. First with coach Fedor Hes in Amsterdam, later on with coach Jacco Verhaeren and reigning Olympic champion Pieter van den Hoogenband in Eindhoven. In the spring of 2006 he decided to stay in Eindhoven, and that he would compete for Holland in the future. After the Spanish authorities agreed, he represented his second country for the first time at the European LC Championships 2006 in Budapest, Hungary.
