The OITDS system was conceptualised in 1999 and was implemented in Jayanth mines in September 2002.

The OITDS was later started at OCP III(SCCL) at Godavarikhani in Feb 2005 and is being successfully implemented by CMC Ltd, Hyderabad.

OITDS - The system:

The Singareni OCP3 mine located in Godavarikhani is now being operated with OITDS.This System is being operated and maintained 24 X 7 by CMC Ltd.

The Concept of remote vehicle tracking using the GPS and wireless communication has worked out well. The trucks are equipped with OITDS equipment. The standarad OITDS equipment consists of a a vehicle mounted unit called Nirdeshak, which collects the GPS signals and vital signs from the vehicle and transmits it to the Centralised control room with a Wirelss radio. This information is used to locate, guide and monitor the trucks in the mine.

This system is utilised to calculate the productivity and optimise the production. This system also has a voice communication service, where in the operators are free to communicate with the Control room officer at any point of time. They are also alerted about the blast zones during blasts that are planned in the mine.
