The OISV stands for the Organization of Independent Software Vendors. The OISV is a co-operative of developers, marketers, distributors, and retailers that combine their resources to create better and affordable software for users. The OISV claims to be the largest such organization, whose large and multi-national membership represents thousands of professionals who create, sell and supply shareware and trial software.

The OISV was founded in May, 2006 by CoffeeCup Software and is sponsored by such companies as Microsoft, Tucows, Download.com, Alcohol Software, Lunarpages, and VanDyke Software.
