Ohr HaTorah Day School

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ohr HaTorah Day School is an Orthodox Jewish day school, located in the River Heights neighbourhood of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.

It was founded in 1998, by a group of parents, who were interested in a high-level Torah studies program, which was not available in other schools in Winnipeg.

The school combines Judaic, Hebrew and general studies, emphasizing Torah values and Zionism. Ohr HaTorah is funded by parents' tuition, Manitoba Education Ministry, The Jewish Federation of Winnipeg and Torah Umesorah.

Ohr HaTorah Day School also operates a full-day day care and a nursery school.

Ohr HaTorah started the 2006-7 academic year, with about 60 students, ranging in age from 2 years to grade 8. The current Principal is Rabbi David Weksler, who moved to Winnipeg with his family from Israel, as an emissary of the Jewish Agency.
