State Route 690 is a north-south state highway in the southeastern portion of the U.S. state of Ohio. Its southern terminus is at U.S. Route 50 about 6½ miles east of Athens, and its northern terminus is at State Route 550 about 2 miles west of Amesville. The route passes through Wayne National Forest and, within recent years, offers a quicker route connecting State Route 550 to the Athens Bypass.

Route 690J is a 0.34-mile^[1] highway at the junction of SR 690 and US 50 east of Athens. At its intersection with SR 690, US 50 is a divided highway. Route 690J connects US 50 across its several lanes and also serves to connect township highway 605, since it jogs at its intersection with SR 690.
