State Route 55 is an east-west state highway in the U.S. state of Ohio. Its western terminus is near the town of Laura at State Route 571, and its eastern terminus is in Urbana at U.S. Route 36 and the eastern terminus of State Route 29. The route runs concurrent with U.S. Route 68 for one mile at its eastern terminus.

1924 – Original route established^[2]. Originally routed from Troy to Parma along its current alignment to Urbana, the current U.S. Route 36 from Urbana to Delaware, the current U.S. Route 42 from Delaware to Medina, the current State Route 3 from Medina to Hinckley, and the current State Route 94 from Hinckley to Parma^[3].
1926 – Truncated at Urbana when the U.S. Route system was established^[3].
1931 – Extended west to Ludlow Falls via previously unnumbered road^[3].
1938 – Extended west to its current terminus via previously unnumbered road^[3].
1979 – Upgraded to divided highway from 3 miles west of Troy to Troy^[3].
