  • Originally routed from Mount Vernon to Newcastle along current route 229. [2]
  • New Guilford to Walhonding was route 79 before 1926. [2]
  • Walhonding to 4 miles east of Brinkhaven was unnumbered before 1938. [2]
  • In 1926, rerouted from Martinsburg to Walhonding along previous unnumbered road and current route 541 from Martinsburg to New Guilford and previous route 79 and current route 206 from New Guilford to Walhonding. [2]
  • Truncated at New Guilford in 1936. [2]
  • Martinsburg to New Guilford certified as route 271 in 1936. [2]
  • Extended to 4 miles east of Brinkhaven along previous unnumbered road in 1938. [2]
