- Originally routed from Michigan state line 12 miles north of Edon to Burlington along current route 49 from Michigan state line to 8 miles west of Montpelier, route 107 from 8 miles west of Montpelier to 3 miles east of Montpelier, and route 20A from 3 miles east of Montpelier to Burlington. [2]
- Montpelier to 3 miles east of Montpelier was route 20S from 1932-35. [2]
- Montpelier to 3 miles east of Montpelier was route 20A from 1935-63. [2]
- Michigan state line to 8 miles west of Montpelier certified as route 49 in 1926. [2]
- Truncated at 8 miles west of Montpelier in 1926. [2]
- Extended to 2 miles north of Wauseon along previous unnumbered road in 1926. [2]
