Naming

AninEigo seems to use "Oh My Goddess!" now. http://www.animeigo.com/Products/OMG.t WhisperToMe 17:32, 5 Sep 2004 (UTC)

Rind -> Lind

It appears that the "official" romanization of "Rindo" is Lind. Cite: Aa! Megamisama Collection (a 15th anniversary commemorative reference volume), and the collected editions that Lind appears in.

Not official. Neither Dark Horse nor Media Blasters have released any english releases that indicate that Rind should be named Lind. See Rind's discussion page. --Js2756 13:17, July 25, 2005 (UTC)
Its Lind on the offical OMG website. --Cool CatTalk|@ 18:51, 23 November 2005 (UTC)
On one of the cover flaps of the Japanese release (around volume 18 or so: I need to double check where), Fujishima romanises it as Lind. That does not mean Dark Horse will not end up spelling it differently in the end, but I would consider Fujishima as official as we are going to get for now. Discussion on Skuld

One of the more noticeable traits of Skuld is her love for her sister Belldandy. Personally, I feel it is almost as if Belldandy was Skuld's mother! Because of this love, Skuld feared losing the attentions of her sister. In this case, Keiichi is her biggest "rival", since Belldandy loves him. Every time Belldandy and Keiichi try to get closer, physically or mentally, Skuld usually appears to spoil it, even though Urd has tried several times to stop this. I personally tire of it, since in these cases, not only is Skuld violating Keiichi's rights, but also Belldandy's. Does Skuld truly consider what Belldandy wants in these cases? I truly believe Skuld is being selfish in trying to hoard her sister's attention for herself. Perhaps she will learn someday, but I understand that Skuld's interference is part of what makes "Oh My Goddess!" so entertaining, so I will not argue any further. --Chameleon

Nice to see you again, Chameleon. As always, a provocative little essay; as always, I urge you to get a user account. --Maru (talk) 22:03, 13 September 2005 (UTC)

Discussion on the Almighty

The Almighty is perhaps the most powerful force in the "Oh My Goddess" story. As ruler of Heaven and Earth, he governs and maintains reality as we know it. While the Almighty is indeed wise, powerful and has the good of all at heart, I also feel that he is arrogant and controlling to a detrimental point. Throughout the story, he refuses to hear out any who would contradict his idea of law and order. When he suspends Urd's license, and then Urd becomes the Lord of Terror afterwards, the Almighty was prepared to kill Urd immediately to prevent the Lord of Terror from rising. While this act might have prevented much disaster, I also feel that the Almighty is being arrogant and uncaring, often doing things for people's own good without asking said people what they believe is good. The Almighty was so determined to enforce his word of law that any who defy him are declared deviant simply because they would not bend to his rules. This is an interesting question of law and chaos, instead of good and evil. The Almighty might be an example of law taken too far. --Chameleon.

Editing Characters' section

I reverted and removed a lot of changes in the character section because a lot of information was redundant and not necessary on the main Oh My Goddess! page. Peorth, Rind and Mara all have their own pages, so information that is pertinant to their characters should go on their own specific pages, and not the main OMG! page. This will prevent the article from becoming too cluttered (especially considering that the character specific pages are generally sparce). This is the same reason why the main characters have no information on them on the main page, but links to their own specific pages. Also, be mindful of the links when editing. The links to Peorth, Rind and Mara were all removed in the prior edit, and I had to restore them in this edit. --Js2756 13:47, August 26, 2005 (UTC)

Completely removed all details regarding characters in characters section, all characters have individual articles now. --Cool Cat Talk 06:57, 8 September 2005 (UTC)

"Sources" and "External Links"

I really think the two should be merged. "Sources" is not actually serving as a reference section, with footnotes or such, or at least referencing the actual series/manga/other canonical material. However... I did not do it because to merge them requires putting the "sources" into the OMG template, which would then show up on every page that has the template; said pages may not need those links, which then would be superfluous. So opinions? --Maru (talk) 22:20, 13 September 2005 (UTC)

It is painful to update every subpage however I think we could get away with a second template (which covers external links). A External links template + A NAV template? --Cool Cat Talk 09:37, 14 September 2005 (UTC)
Nothing worth doing was easy. I'll leave it to you, since you seem to have a plan. --Maru (talk) 14:44, 14 September 2005 (UTC)
External links have their own table now, this problem is solved. No? --Cool Cat Talk 13:55, 15 September 2005 (UTC)

Plot summaries

As the guys at the Featured Article noms said, the plot summaries are seriously messed up. I propose this: since the OVA and Tv series have pretty much the same plot, we give the basic plot at the original OVA (or possible manga; it might make more sense to start there), and then only list deviations and continuations under the respective subparagraphs. --Maru (talk) 04:30, 14 September 2005 (UTC)

Manga OVA and TV serises (as well as DVD) are similar to each other. mini series are just weird. TV-Manga is said to go closely related though I havent read the manga. --Cool Cat Talk 09:42, 14 September 2005 (UTC)
The TV series is much closer to the original manga than the OVA series, but there are some significant differences, mostly in what can or cannot be shown on TV (eg where in the manga Urd tried to get Keiichi to sleep with her, on TV it was simply kiss her). Elric of Grans 23:01, 22 November 2005 (UTC)
The plot is much different than what the original comments suggested on FAC. I am not suggesting that its a bad idea just I dont know how it could be done. --Cool Cat Talk 09:42, 14 September 2005 (UTC)
Alternatively, as peer review suggests, we could have a section describing differences between OVA Manga TV (DVD as well when/if applicable) and one uniformal plot (Manga/TV perhaps) --Cool Cat Talk 09:48, 14 September 2005 (UTC)
Well, I was thinking more along the lines of: Plot
Manga
Manga plot description.
Ova
Mention of how it foillows Manga plot, and enumerating differences
Movie
Movie plot description
TV
See Ova
Mini-goddesses
 ?
--Maru (talk) 15:02, 14 September 2005 (UTC)
possible. I want to keep mini goddess out (on its onw article) as its at best unrelated. :) --Cool Cat Talk 04:30, 15 September 2005 (UTC)

OSTs

I think its DVD. We could create a sub article for the soundtracks maybe? Since the page will get too long with only 3 soundtracks. (while there are 3 more singles) --Cool Cat Talk 09:35, 14 September 2005 (UTC)
The voice actors are also proffesional singers so much of the dvd "soundtrak" was not heard in the DVD ;) --Cool Cat Talk 09:35, 14 September 2005 (UTC)
See: Oh My Goddess! Soundtracks I also migrated your list :) --Cool Cat Talk 10:03, 14 September 2005 (UTC)

Well, I managed to get a track listing of the second TV OST, unfortunately, it's only in Romaji. I'm trying to get a friend to translate the titles into English, and if this page needs it, it could be translated back into Kanji as well: 1. Tenjoukai 2. Subtitle 3. Odaiyakana ichinichi 4. Hajimete Date 5. Sidecar ni notte 6. Marller 7. Urd bousou 8. Yukai na itazura 9. Skuld 10. Wakare 11. Kodoku 12. Kyuukyoku hakai Program 13. Eyecatch B (Although strangely, this is the same song as Eyecatch A on the TV OST 1..) 14. Urd vs. Marller Part 1 15. Urd vs. Marller Part 2 16. Makai 17. Akumu 18. Komatta Dekigoto 19. Zettai Zetsumei 20. Banpei-kun 21. Yureru omo 22. Koisuru futari 23. Nikyuu kami kanri gentei 24. Kyoufu no daiou 25. Shinobiyoru anun 26. Last Battle ~Libera me~ 27. Ashita ni mukatte 28. Wing (TV Edit)

Layout Proposal

Well, I think the article is now nicely cleaned up, so there no need to do all this new layout and stuff.

One problem I have with that is that the OVA is only 5 episodes, I dont think we can write a lot about it. By no means the current secion is adequate though (I never watched the OVA). The movie is basicaly a one hour episde, current section has room for improvement as well (I watched it a year ago and am writing about what I can remeber (obviously not a lot)... So far in the TV section each paragraph exlains an episode, when done this makes the episode list table rather redundent as that can be embeded into the chunks of text. Is sound track really necesary? We could create a sub page maybe because article does not cover the 3 "singles" that are out or the upcoming OST for the TV show. --Cool Cat Talk 09:29, 14 September 2005 (UTC)
How about this?
Oh! My Goddess (main page)
  • OVA (5 episodes, should at best occupy 5 paragraphs)
    • Plot (start with a paragraph mentioning all characters, I think there were only 6)
    • Themes / symbols / metaphors, whatever you call ‘em, they go in here
  • Mini-Goddess (should have a sub page, I haven watched it but I know its 48 episodes)
    • Plot
    • Themes / symbols / metaphors, whatever you call ‘em, they go in here
  • TV
    • Plot
    • Themes / symbols / metaphors, whatever you call ‘em, they go in here
  • DVD (3,4 paragraph since it is basicaly a 2.5 episode series.) It is said watching OVA/TV makes this more understandable so maybe those details should be mentioned in the shows chronology rather than production chronology.
    • Plot
    • Themes / symbols / metaphors, whatever you call ‘em, they go in here
  • Cast (Cast actualy mostly stayed the same though there were a few shift arounds for the minni-goddess serries)
  • Sources
  • NAV template? (could go somewhere else on the page) --Cool Cat Talk 09:25, 14 September 2005 (UTC)

Cast can be like

==Cast==
 * Belldandy - Voice Actor - Shows (- Short description maybe?)
 * Keiichi - Voice Actor - Shows (- Short description maybe?)
would salvage the existing character section as well. --Cool Cat Talk 09:32, 14 September 2005 (UTC)

Fair use

We need fair use rationales on the screen capture images. That is one complaint from peer-review/FA that has only been partially addressed. --Maru (talk) 15:52, 14 September 2005 (UTC)

Can you elaborate? --Cool Cat Talk 19:28, 14 September 2005 (UTC)
Yes. To wit, can we simply use screencaptures? Do they fall under "fair use"? If they do, why? --Maru (talk) 20:10, 14 September 2005 (UTC)
I do not see a problem personally. --Cool Cat Talk 04:32, 15 September 2005 (UTC)
What matters is policy, not your personal view. — Davenbelle 05:32, 22 September 2005 (UTC)
I think there are way too many screencaps for this article... --DK 10:24, 21 September 2005 (UTC)
The listbox at Special:Upload says one screenshot per article; Template:Film-screenshot says " It is believed that the use of a limited number of web-resolution screenshots for identification and critical commentary on the film or television program and its contents on the English-language Wikipedia, hosted on servers in the United States by the non-profit Wikimedia Foundation, qualifies as fair use under United States copyright law."Davenbelle 05:32, 22 September 2005 (UTC)
Yeah, if you look at the page an images, we have an image for every two episode. --Cool Cat Talk 09:20, 22 September 2005 (UTC)
Actually, what bugs me is the lack of an infobox... --Maru (talk) 19:35, 21 September 2005 (UTC)
Debugged (with a mallet). --Cool CatTalk|@ 18:49, 23 November 2005 (UTC)

Images

While we're on images... The manga section could use an image of a scanned page, preferably from the early issues. --Maru (talk) 04:42, 15 September 2005 (UTC)

Your wish is my command, done. Image is cover of volume 1 manga. --Cool Cat Talk 16:12, 15 September 2005 (UTC)
I am well aware that after "Ah! Compare and Contrast Goddesses and Queens?" is messed up. It will be fixed once i am done reviewing those episodes ;) --Cool Cat Talk 17:23, 15 September 2005 (UTC)
Thank you, Cool Cat! You are too good to me. --Maru (talk) 18:44, 15 September 2005 (UTC)
I just love that image of belldandy! --Cool Cat Talk 19:35, 16 September 2005 (UTC)

TV series section

Wow. Just... wow. I am not sure how to tackle that section. That's pretty much a complete article in and of itself. Suggestions welcome. Also: Cool Cat, all the images in the TV series section, they are from the TV series, right? None of them need moving? --Maru (talk) 20:15, 16 September 2005 (UTC)

Well, the first image is the cover from the TV OST number 1, so that really belongs in the Soundtrack section. I'll be adding the entire OST 1 scans to the soundtrack section at higher quality, so it can just be deleted. The third one (Belldandy & Holy Bell) I believe is from the TV, but it could be from the OVA. All the rest are from the TV series, except for the Almighty, which I'm pretty sure is from the Movie. --Chequers 04:05, 17 September 2005 (UTC)
Alright then. --Maru (talk) 16:17, 17 September 2005 (UTC)
All mighty is from the TV serries. But since his appearance from the dvd is the same, I do not see any harm in keeping his picture where it is. I have tagged where I got the images from (if I had taken the screen cap myself). Else I am not sure :P --Cool Cat Talk 15:45, 30 September 2005 (UTC)
