The OH-091st Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps is a Group level unit established at Wayne High School in Huber Heights, OH. As of November 1st, 2006, there are 106 cadets currently taking the Aerospace Science Course. The Senior Aerospace Science Instructor is Major James Roberts. The Aerospace Science Instructor is Senior Master Sergeant Michel Cannon. The commander of the unit is C/Lt.Col Brandon Wilson.

[edit] Unit History

The OH-091st Unit of the Air Force JROTC was activated at Wayne High School in 1971, making it one of the first units to be activated in state after the United States Air Force was given permission to establish JROTC units in 1967. It has been designated a Distinguished Unit for the past three years.

[edit] Aerospace Science Course

All Cadets in the AFJROTC program are required to take the Aerospace Science Course. Depending on what year the cadet is determines the topic the cadet takes.

  • AS-I (First Year Cadets): The Science of Flight
  • AS-II (Second Year Cadets): The History Of Flight
  • AS-III (Third Year Cadets): The Science and History of Space
  • AS-IV (Fourth Year Cadets): Leadership

The grade of a cadet is determined by using a rubric approved by the SASI.

  • Academics : 40% of Grade
  • Leadership: 40% of Grade
  • Physical Training: 20% of Grade

[edit] Drill Team

The OH-091st Drill Team has been around since the creation of the unit in 1971, it is open to any cadet who wishes to participate. The Drill Team has been ranked one of the best in Ohio, and carries a long tradition spanning over thirty years. Cadets competing on the team for the fist time are put on 1st Year Teams. Returning cadets are placed on the Advanced Teams. The Unit does not host its own event, however competes at drill competitions in the following categories.

  • 1st Year Color Guard
  • 1st Year Unarmed I.D.R.
  • 1st Year Armed I.D.R.
  • Adv. Armed I.D.R.
  • Adv. Unarmed I.D.R.
  • Adv. Color Guard
  • Female Color Guard
  • Unarmed Exhibition
  • Armed Exhibition
  • Inspection Team

Drill team is Monday-Friday 0600-0730hrs (6:00-7:30a.m.)

[edit] Community Color Guard

The community Color Guard team is different than the Drill Team Color Guard. Instead of competing at events, the Community Color Guard does color guard ceremonies at events such as the Wayne Home Football Games, graduations, and various community events.

Color Guard is every tuesday, from 3:00p.m. to 4:30p.m. (1500hrs-1630hrs)
