[edit] Founding of Oglethorpe Academy
Martha Nesbit, the founder, was upset about education in Georgia. She got together with some friends from church and asked if they would back her if she opened a new charter school. Thus, Oglethorpe Charter School was born. In 1998, Oglethorpe welcomed its first set of middle schoolers.
