Ogasawara Nagakiyo

Ogasawara Nagakiyo (1162-03-051242-07-15) a retainer of the Japanese clan of Minamoto during the Heian period (12th century) of Japan. Nagakiyo became rather famous for being the founder of the well known clan of Japan, the Ogasawara. Nagakiyo was born within the prefecture of Yamanashi. Nagakiyo became a very well known tutor under the famous Minamoto no Yoritomo when at the age of 26, instructing Yoritomo in the ways of martial and archery arts. Nagakiyo would also pass his skills on to his son, Ogasawara Nagatsune during the period of the Kamakura Shogunate. During the Sengoku period (16th century) the Ogasawara would serve under the Ashikaga Shogunate and then serve under the Tokugawa Shogunate in the Edo period (17th century).
