Obstinate Esther is a Danish Lo-fi/math rock/indie rock rock band formed in Copenhagen in 1996 being one of the first Danish bands of this kind - along with the side project Nasa Dude.

Right from the beginning the band has been releasing self produced material pioneering this genre of music. They are scary on stage - something in between GG Allin and Roy Orbison - doing all kinds of performances, dressing up & giving the audience a hard time.

The 2005 line-up is Heine Thorhauge Mathiasen who joined the band in 2004 - he plays a fulfilling guitar - sometimes with sparks right out of it! Carit Benike who, apart from being the bassplayer in Obstinate Esther, manages Ibm global services and even two kids. Lars Eierdal contributes with the drums, has his own company, and loves Louise who occasionally performs with us. Carl Christian Tofte, singer and guitarist, is a poor artist who has all sorts of projects in his head.

The Obstinate Esther Lo-Fi Manifest
Coincidence is important since it contributes to the authenticity of the work. It's probably this urge for authenticity which makes us consider the polished appearance of contemporary pop and chase after the wind. Then rather erroneously on purpose as the reality of alarm clocks. Therefore I work so fast. Therefore it's legitimate to play chaotic. A place in this chaos, there's a hidden meaning whether you like it or not. Therefore, as I see it, it's better to unveil oneself. To minimize the distance to the unconscious. At least where we dare.
