I have tried cleaning up the article, though there are still some ambiguities that remain in the article. It is an article related to South-India, so there might be some elements which I will not be able to grasp. (Remember, India is a land of huge diversities.. ;) ) Regards, --Andy123(talk) 08:03, 8 May 2006 (UTC)

Followup: minor edits, prods, AfDs
Hey, I know this is from a while ago, but I happend to come across what I'd wanted to point out, but had forgotten what page it was on (which is why I posted the less-relevant page instead), in the discussion regarding whether or not a proposed deletion is a minor edit. Template:AfD_in_3_steps — see that one of the notes is Please do not mark the edit as minor. True, this is for AfDs and not prods, but I can't think of any reason why it would be different. --Icarus 01:42, 15 May 2006 (UTC)

Jack Lumber reverted one of my edits on this page and explaned it in code: "again, Myrtone, you MUST take the historical backdrop into account. The MoS can't be a source. Albert, "defense" is not really "French spelling."" When I made the edit I couldn't witre the summary because it was too long, so I left a note on this page. Myrtone@Obli.com.au
Ulayiti Actions on International Baccalaureate page
Obli, I thank you for helping me regarding Ulayiti repeatedly censoring my addition of a single link to a reliable source on the IB page. And I thank you for the comments you made there.
Now Ulayiti has gone and again removed the link, stating why on the Discussion page. I responded to that the best I can given my limited knowledge of Wikipedia. And I'd like to add that link back in -- I will try.
But after about now I will no longer be able to police his repetitive attempts to censor information with which he personally disagrees. While I'm not asking you to, if you would keep an eye on the page and perhaps obtain the assistance of other Wikipedians to prevent Ulayiti from violating policy, that would be greatly appreciated. If I recall correctly, I quickly scanned his Talk page and got the impression that he has done this type of thing on other pages with which he personally disagrees as well.
Please do what you can, thank you for your support and for upholding Wikipedia policy, and good luck to you in the future. 71.192.35.245 14:04, 4 June 2006 (UTC)
Pirate Party Artical
In regards to the recent rv and de-rv - I removed the reference to the US Pirate Party due to the fact that URL provided for them - [1] - does not have any content on it that relates to them yet. To take the middle ground in the latest rm to the article I have removed the link and replaced it with a citation needed tag - once there is an official site it can be restored or it might not be such a bad idea to provide a link back to the Swedish Pirate Party's recognition of the US branch.

Obli,
Your diligence is appreciated, but I wasn't testing anything. The page said that speculation was welcome, so I speculated. You didn't like my speculation, so you mercilessly rubbed it out. I hope you feel virtuous, or something.

On June 14, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Anophthalmus hitleri, which you created. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the "Did you know?" talk page. |
Anophthalmus
Hi. I'm unaware of any specific references to the biology of the genus, let alone that particular species. However, as they are Trechines, it can safely be stated that the adults and larvae must be predators on smaller cave inhabitants. That's one of the good things about systematics; predictions about unknown features of an organism can be made with some confidence. I'll put that in.
I also found a link, indicating the Darwin referred to the genus in "The Origin of Species" in chapter V:
"Another blind genus (Anophthalmus) offers this remarkable peculiarity, that the species, as Mr. Murray observes, have not as yet been found anywhere except in caves; yet those which inhabit the several caves of Europe and America are distinct; but it is possible that the progenitors of these several species, while they were furnished with eyes, may formerly have ranged over both continents, and then have become extinct, excepting in their present secluded abodes."
This would, however, be apprpriate for the Anophthalmus page, as it refers to the genus as a whole.

352d Maintenance Squadron deletion
Heya Obli, Im a new proto-editor here. I was just working on an article to be wikified (First attempt ever, and the nickname/article combination was sheer fluke), i googled the squadron and noticed it had come straight from a fact sheet. I was going to add some extra information, and add the relevant credits. Anyhow, as i was working on it there came up a message that it had been deleted, the reason of course, being a copyright violation :)
Is there anything i should have done differently there? May i keep working on that article? Or has it now gone to god?
Cheers, Squaddy

Thankya. Just one question tho, was it deleted because it was about to be deleted? Or deleted because of my editing it. I was in the process of changing what was there at the time. Id picked the article out of the list, id only added a couple of lines at the time and previewed it. Hadnt saved it at all.

Compobags
Hi you just deleted the article compobags, with the reasoning that it was spam. I was about to stick a prod notice on it, as CSD says: "Advertisements or spam: These may be subject to deletion, but not speedy deletion. There is always a chance to replace them with an NPOV version instead." Would a prod notice not have been technically correct? --Wisden17 13:14, 20 June 2006 (UTC)
- Hi, thanks for your quick answer. I've list the page at AfD, it appears to be nn, and there are already article on plastics etc. clearly just an advert for the product. --Wisden17 13:23, 20 June 2006 (UTC)
A short Esperanzial update
As you may have gathered, discussions have been raging for about a week on the Esperanza talk page as to the future direction of Esperanza. Some of these are still ongoing and warrant more input (such as the idea to scrap the members list altogether). However, some decisions have been made and the charter has hence been amended. See what happened. Basically, the whole leadership has had a reshuffle, so please review the new, improved charter.
As a result, we are electing 4 people this month. They will replace JoanneB and Pschemp and form a new tranche A, serving until December. Elections will begin on 2006-07-02 and last until 2006-07-09. If you wish to run for a Council position, add your name to the list before 2006-07-02. For more details, see Wikipedia:Esperanza/June 2006 elections.

Klarälven
Hi Obli, I noticed a mistake on the map of the swedish river Klarälven. The location of Munkfors and Hagfors are wrong. Munkfors is at the place of Hagfors and vice versa. I would correct the picture by myself, but I don't know, how to do this. Maybe you can do this? Best Regards Growin (german Wikipedia)

Your edit to "Sweden"
Hi Obli
I just noticed your edit to Sweden regarding the teaching of Norwegian. Do you remember if these courses include both Norwegian and Danish or just Norwegian? If I remember correctly, both Swedish and Norwegian were technically speaking part of the curriculum in Danish lessons when I went to school, although this was pretty much ignored. Just being curious. Happy editing. Valentinian (talk) / (contribs) 17:36, 29 October 2006 (UTC)

Your undo to edits on John Bauer
Hi and thanks for your note. You undid my edits to John Bauer. That's not cleaning up. That's removing edits you disagree with or dislike. Rather than change them back and forth, here are the references that justify the edits that I made: John Bauer, Sagotechnaren (Swedish) - Harald Schiller, 1935 which is referenced/quoted in The Artist John Baue And His World by Helen Agrenius, 1996 (English). Let me know if you have further problems with my original edits or require further documentation/ references. If I don't hear from you, I'll assume you have no objection to my putting them back. -- XineAnn

Why Not?
Why can't Tourettes Guy get his own article?
I know that this was "settled" a long time ago. Some Wikipedia administrators took over and *badda-bing, badda-boom* Wikipedia says that Tourettes Guy isn't notable at all.
Yet this website has all sorts of articles on meaningless, worthless CRAP on other Internet stuff. If they're worthy of an article, why not Danny?
He's more notable than any "Numa-Numa". He's been on a commerical on MTV, ben mentioned on "Conan O'Brian" and his website gets over 300,000 visitors a month.
So what? He's not notable at all? —preceding unsigned comment by Turrets Guy (talk • contribs)

A fairly bold speedy deletion...
Ok, this article was factually incorrect, badly titles, and unsourced... but while redirecting would have been a justifiable speedy-close action, deletion really was not. The speedy deletion criteria don't suffer stretching to well, as people will end up going too far. I know we're all about outcomes not process, and the end-result here was an acceptable one, so please don't get me wrong. A "standard" approach of making the closing statement of yours into an argument for deletion would have been a better way to go, or even simply leaving the redirect in place. It's not like deleting it saved any space or anything. - 152.91.9.144 23:29, 19 November 2006 (UTC)
