An Object manager is a concept, and often a piece of software, found in Object-oriented programming. The object manager provides rules for retention, naming and security of objects.

The object manager inside the Windows kernel is built under the Executive services (which includes The Kernel and the Hardware abstraction layer. Objects can be for example files or folders saved in the file system. See Architecture of the Windows NT operating system line.
