[edit] Images
Please refran from making so mant useless images.
- Image:KurtAngleTitle.jpg - very little image
- Image:Kurt Angle.jpg - yet another photo of him with the Championship
- Image:Edge.jpg - don't need two photos of him on Wikipedia with the WWE Championship
Only add photo's where they are needed. (good example was the photo: Image:Kid Kash.jpg you uploaded because we needed a decent photo of Kash on Wikipedia.)
Another problem I tend to see in your edits is you take off the old photo without placing elsewhere on the page. Please, if you replace photo's on Wikipedia, relocate the photo to another part of the article, if possible, so it doesn't become Unused. SWD316 talk to me 03:51, 13 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image Tagging Image:BFG.jpg
|
Thanks for uploading Image:BFG.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{GFDL}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{fairusein|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. feydey 02:46, 12 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:Rogue.jpg)
|
Thanks for uploading Image:Rogue.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that your image can be used under a fair use license. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If your image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why your image was deleted. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Zzyzx11 (Talk) 22:12, 24 April 2006 (UTC)
[edit] License tagging for Image:Jarrett Payton.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Jarrett Payton.jpg. Wikipedia gets hundreds of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:
This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 23:07, 24 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Dan Marino
Please don't add the magazine cover to the Dan Marino article, it's not fair use in the way that is being used. Thanks Jaranda wat's sup 00:09, 25 April 2006 (UTC)
Same with other football players, don't add magazine covers as they don't qualify for fair use, I reverted your images to those articles. Thanks Jaranda wat's sup 00:19, 25 April 2006 (UTC)
- Just to explain a little more, as it says in the {{Magazinecover}} template, it is believed that images of copyrighted magazine covers qualify for fair use if used to illustrate an article, or part of an article, which specifically describes the issue in question or its cover. Unfortunately, that does not allow for their use simply as portraits for the figures on the cover.
- Please, before your upload any more images, take the time to thoroughly read Wikipedia:Image use policy and Wikipedia:Image copyright tags. Several of the other images you've uploaded are missing critical information about their copyright status. If you have any questions you can ask me on my talk page or ask at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Regards ×Meegs 01:00, 25 April 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading Image:Colonel William F. Guile.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. [edit] Captain Jack Sparrow
With apologies, I've reverted your most recent edit; the data did not include a reliable source, and some of the data seemed rather inconsequential. Feel free to restore if it's properly cited and demonstrably relevant to the plot (or, if nothing of consequence was shown, please include a brief description of the purpose for the screening). RadioKirk (u|t|c) 02:25, 26 July 2006 (UTC)
- Thank you for including the source; that's exactly what an encyclopedia requires. I've formatted it to serve as a reference, and rewritten the passage somewhat—another trick for an encyclopedia (as opposed to, say, comingsoon.net or a fan page or the like) is to stick with what's relevant, so a passage about two men slapping each other without the context makes a reader ask "why?" (the reasons for battles with Davy Jones and Barbossa have already been sufficiently established for inclusion). Well done, hope to see more good stuff! :) RadioKirk (u|t|c) 05:14, 26 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:Pirates Of The Caribbean- At World's End Teaser Poster.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:Pirates Of The Caribbean- At World's End Teaser Poster.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image is unlicensed for use on Wikipedia and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

[edit] Moving pages
When moving film-related articles, use the naming conventions by WP:Films. For example: (Film) does not need to be capitalized in "The Mummy 3 (Film)", so I moved it to "The Mummy 3 (film)". Also, when moving pages, be sure to correct any links that redirect to the new page. For example: on the "Mummy Returns" article, there is a link for "The Mummy 3" which would redirect to "The Mummy 3 (film)". Instead, you must format it like this: [[The Mummy 3 (film)|The Mummy 3]], which helps to ensure it goes directly to the correct article. Let me know if you have any questions about this. --Nehrams2020 04:41, 14 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Spy Hunter poster
Can you provide a source for the new poster that you added to the film article? I have to question its authenticity, since there is no release date suggested (not even a year), and the car looks suspiciously fake. [edit] Spy Hunter: Nowhere To Run
I've added the "{{prod}}" template to the article Spy Hunter: Nowhere To Run, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, or, if you disagree with the notice, discuss the issues at Talk:Spy Hunter: Nowhere To Run. You may remove the deletion notice, and the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached, or if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria. [edit] Hello, I have some image requests
I am currently in the process of improving Captain Jack Sparrow, and considering you've been excellent with uploading images from the DVDs (presumably) and have some requests regarding Curse of the Black Pearl. I'd like that heroic image of him as he first appears in the film, and also stepping back into the moonlight revealing himself to be cursed. Please respond. Wiki-newbie 12:12, 18 December 2006 (UTC)
Just wondering though, do you make them off the DVDs? Wiki-newbie 13:34, 18 December 2006 (UTC)
No, not really, I think the Kraken pic will do for now. Wiki-newbie 13:50, 18 December 2006 (UTC)
Just wondering, do you have cursed Jack ready? Or are you just busy during Christmas? Wiki-newbie 17:49, 23 December 2006 (UTC)
Well I'd knew they work in the article. On a different note, don't always write minor to all edits. Do specify them in the little rectangular box. Wiki-newbie 21:12, 26 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Images on user page
Please look #9 in the Policy section at Wikipedia:Fair use: "Fair use images may be used only in the article namespace. Used outside article space, they are not covered under the fair use doctrine. They should never be used on templates (including stub templates and navigation boxes) or on user pages." You need to remove the pictures from your user page. —Erik (talk • contrib) - 22:20, 18 December 2006 (UTC)
- Obi-Wan, Erik is correct. I do not know why you have re-added all of the movie properties to your user page [1], but please remove them. If you like, you can link to the images (e.g. Image:Pirates of the Caribbean- The Curse of the Black Pearl Poster.jpg), but you can not display them anywhere outside of the article space. Thanks ×Meegs 05:57, 23 December 2006 (UTC)

- Wikipedia:Userboxes#Caution about image use: "Wikipedia policy does not allow templates (which includes userboxes) or user pages to contain any copyrighted content not under free license; so, for example, "fair use" images are explicitly forbidden." —Erik (talk • contrib) - 23:09, 24 December 2006 (UTC)

- Sorry to say that Erik is right again; you will need to take the movie images out of the userboxes. Also, it's not a big deal, but instead of periodically restoring your gallery of images, you might consider merely previewing image-containing page (rather than saving it). Remember that you can also view old versions of your userpage by clicking on the dates in the page's history (example). Regards ×Meegs 03:51, 25 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Shrek 4 (film)
I've added the "{{prod}}" template to the article Shrek 4 (film), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, or, if you disagree with the notice, discuss the issues at Talk:Shrek 4 (film). You may remove the deletion notice, and the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached, or if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria. - Peripitus (Talk) 23:18, 25 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:Johnny Depp.JPG)
Thanks for uploading Image:Johnny Depp.JPG.
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. Thank you. Abu Badali 13:08, 27 December 2006 (UTC)

Hi, Obi-WanKenobi-2005. Do you know what is the origin of the following images? They don't seem to be screenshots. Are you sure they are usable on Wikipedia?

Oh, I guess not then. Sorry. I'll just let them be Deleted. Obi-WanKenobi-2005 27, December 2006
- Good. You can help by adding the {{db-author}} template to the images. As a side note, please consider slowing down on unfree (i.e. "fair use") images uploads. When properly chosen, just one image per character is far from enough. Thanks and happy editting. --Abu Badali 19:20, 27 December 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for the help, and Advice. Obi-WanKenobi-2005 27, December 2006
- I guess you still need to provide source information for all five images above (who created the images?). And the last 2 ones need a licensing tag as well. I hope you understand not every image may be used on Wikipedia, and there's a chance these images will be deleted. --Abu Badali 19:24, 28 December 2006 (UTC)
- I can't seem to find the right one though.
- Obi-WanKenobi-2005 28, December 2006
- Then the image should not be used.
- Also, on more image that you just uploaded still has some problems: Image:"Bootstrap Bill" Turner Action Figure.jpg. Please, seriously consider following my advice to not upload any new image until you resolve the problems with your images and read Wikipedia:Fair use and Wikipedia:Image use policy. Best regards, --Abu Badali 19:30, 28 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] License tagging for Image:Davy Jones Action Figure.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Davy Jones Action Figure.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated.
18:09, 28 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Image tagging for Image:Jack_Sparrow_Action_Figure_Movie_-2.JPG
Thanks for uploading Image:Jack_Sparrow_Action_Figure_Movie_-2.JPG. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

[edit] Mummy 3
Please don't move Mummy 3 to a title that ends in (film). This is only supposed to be done if there is another article called "Mummy 3", which there isn't. For example, the Pirates 3 article title does not end in (film) because there's no other article with this title. — —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Erikster (talk • contribs) 05:38, 17 January 2007 (UTC).
[edit] AfD Nomination: Call of Duty 4
An editor has nominated the article Call of Duty 4 for deletion, under the Articles for deletion process. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the nomination (also see What Wikipedia is not and Deletion policy). Your opinions on why the topic of the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome: participate in the discussion by editing Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Call of Duty 4. Add four tildes like this ˜˜˜˜ to sign your comments. You can also edit the article Call of Duty 4 during the discussion, but do not remove the "Articles for Deletion" template (the box at the top of the article), this will not end the deletion debate. [edit] Unspecified source for Image:JamesKirkTiberious.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:JamesKirkTiberious.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{fairusein|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 21:36, 14 February 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Abu badali (talk) 21:36, 14 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Image:The Rock.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:The Rock.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the image description page and edit it to add
{{Replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template. - On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 48 hours after this notification, per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Bob 22:48, 14 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Simon Templar
Thank you for your edits to this article, however I disagree strongly with using an image of Val Kilmer (and possibly an unfree image if the above warning is any indication) as the lead image. This is an article about a literary character, and as such we should not use a film image. I've no objection to the image being added farther down the article (in the film portrayal section) if the above noted concerns about licensing can be worked out. I've also expanded the infobox since it seems to have been based upon information from the film and not upon the literary canon. If you have any objections I invite you to comment in the discussion thread on this issue at Talk:Simon Templar. Cheers. 23skidoo 04:15, 27 February 2007 (UTC)
- I've removed the poster image from the main Simon Templar article. We already have an image of Kilmer and don't need another. I suggest adding an image of George Sanders or Louis Heyward instead, or if you can find a better Ian Ogilvy image than the one of the book cover, that too. The poster is perfectly acceptable in the article on the film, however. 23skidoo 23:39, 4 March 2007 (UTC)
- I'm also deleting the Son of the Saint article, There is no evidence Dickerson ever completed the work, so we can't have an article on it unless such evidence exists. 23skidoo 23:41, 4 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Simon Templar infobox
Per our earlier discussion, I replaced the book image in the infobox with an image of the Saint logo. However I can't seem to get the caption to go across the two columns. If you have a moment, could you check it out? Thanks. 23skidoo 23:46, 7 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] New image
I would rather we not use that image for Simon Templar. For one thing you can't really see the logo very well, plus it's not a logo, it's a pin. And it's a film screenshot and therefore subject to being deleted per Wikipedia's fair use rules. I'm switching it back for now and starting a thread on the Talk:Simon Templar page for further discussion. Under Wikipedia's fair use rules, you should be able to use the image on the article related to the 1997 movie, however. 23skidoo 22:02, 9 March 2007 (UTC)

Thank you. Abu badali (talk) 15:29, 10 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Unspecified source for Image:Val Kilmer.JPG
Thanks for uploading Image:Val Kilmer.JPG.
If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self-no-disclaimers}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL.
If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 15:29, 10 March 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Abu badali (talk) 15:29, 10 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:Val Kilmer.JPG)
Thanks for uploading Image:Val Kilmer.JPG. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use.
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. Thank you. Abu badali (talk) 15:29, 10 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] President Kellogg
Please do not add nonsense to Wikipedia. It is considered vandalism. If you would like to experiment, use the sandbox. Thank you.
If this article relates to a fictional universe, which it does not itself stipulate, then perhaps you may like to return to the article quickly and add a clarification.--Anthony.bradbury 01:00, 11 March 2007 (UTC)
- Please do not apologise, there is no need. As I have said, if this President exists in a fictional universe then that's fine, he qualifies for an article. But please stipulate in which corner of cyberspace he exists! And please do not feel that I was attacking you personally - I had no such intention.--Anthony.bradbury 01:10, 11 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Underconstruction
Hi; may I give you a friendly bit of info? If you choose to create a new article in mainspace, rather than in the sandbox or on a temporary sub-page, if you add, at the top of the page, the template {{underconstruction}} then most editors will leave you alone to get on with it.--Anthony.bradbury 01:06, 11 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] AfD nomination of Eleanor Green
An editor has nominated Eleanor Green, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not"). Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Eleanor Green and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it.
