Obiaruku

Obiaruku is a town in the southern part of Niger Delta State of Nigeria. It has, from its spoken Ukwuani language, two possible meanings. Obi, according to Ukwuani language, means the heart; the center; the point; the main, and alu uku, which is customarily called aruku for easy pronunciation, means a great work, or a great event or happening. The population of Obiaruki was 68,7310 in 2005. The town has 16,205 households, 33090 males, and 35620 females, with a population density of 168.
