OBESSU

OBESSU is the Organising Bureau of European School Student Unions. The secretariat is based in Brussels. Rue de la Sablonnière 20, B- 1000 Brussels BELGIUM. Secretary General is Jovana Bazerkovska.
Full members status is held to the European Youth Forum (YFJ) which operates within the Council of Europe and European Union areas and works closely with both these bodies.
April 2005, the 30th Anniversaire Celebrations of the foundation of OBESSU were celebrated in Dublin, Ireland and hosted by the Union of Secondary Students.
Fintan O'Toole, Irish Times Journalist, was one of the founding members of OBESSU in 1975 and now sits on the Board of Directors of the Union of Secondary Students.

OBESSU is the European platform of national school student organisations and unions. It was founded in April 1975 in Dublin, Ireland. Today, it represents 22 member organisations in 18 European countries and has contacts with observer and contact organisations in a further 10 countries.

- Fight all forms of inequality in European education systems
- Promote solidarity among young people in Europe in general and school students in particular
- Promote social inclusion
- Work for a democratic school

- General Assembly (supreme decision-making body, meets annually)
- Board (elected every two years, composed of 5 to 7 persons)
- European Platform of national (secondary) school student organisations
[edit] Main Activities
OBESSU organises approximately 5 conferences per year all dealing with education-related topics. OBESSU organise environ 5 conférences par an qui traitent toutes de sujets liés à l’éducation.
