Obambo

An obambo is a type of ghost among certain peoples of Central Africa.
An obambo initially resides in the bush, but eventually gets tired of this and appears to a close relative, requesting that he build a house for him near his own. That night the village women are gathered to dance and sing, and next day the people visit the grave of the deceased and make a rough idol. They then erect a little hut near the house of the person the obambo visited, and put inside the bier on which the deceased was carried to his grave, as well as some of the dust from the grave. A white cloth is then draped over the door.
An alternative meaning is the ghost of somebody who died in the bush and has no grave.
