Obama, Fukui

Obama (小浜市; -shi) is a city located in Wakasa Area of Fukui Prefecture, Japan.

As of October 1, 2005, the city has an estimated population of 32,185 and the density of 138.22 persons per km². The total area is 232.85 km². Municipalized in March 30, 1951.

In Ritsuryo period, Obama was capital of Wakasa Province. In Edo period, Obama was the capital of Obama Clan.

Many temples related to Yamato Dynasty is located in Obama, and called "Nara by the sea".
