Oakton Classic

The Oakton Classic is an annual marching band competition held at Oakton High School in Vienna, Virginia. The 22nd Annual Oakton Classic was held on October 14, 2006, with Robinson Secondary School winning for the second year in a row. Many marching bands from around the east coast attend this competition, including the highly respected Robinson Secondary School marching band, who was the grand champion in 2005 and 2006, and the Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology band, the grand champion in 2004. Traditionally, a college marching band and the Oakton High School Marching Band perform for show. The most recent college band to perform at the competition was the marching band from Virginia Tech in 2005. Due to a change of date for the 2006 Classic, there was no exhibition band. October 2, 2004, was named "Oakton Classic Day" in Fairfax County, Virginia in honor of the 20th anniversary of this competition. The next Oakton Classic will be held on October 20, 2007, as announced by OaktonBands.com.
