Oakland Stompers

The Oakland Stompers are a soccer team based out of Oakland that played in the original NASL. They played only one season, 1978. Their home field was Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum. Previous to Oakland, the franchise was known as the Connecticut Bicentennials. After Oakland, the team became known as the Edmonton Drillers. In 2005 the team was reborn as the Stompers in the National Alliance Soccer League (NASL), buoyed by a TV contract with the TVS Television Network.
