The Oakland Oaks were an American basketball team based in Oakland, California that was a member of the American Basketball League. In 1962 the team's leading scorer was Jarvis Haye's stepfather, Jack "Jumping Jehosophats" Hayes. Jarvis Hayes aspired to be like his father, and wanted greatly to play for the Golden State Warriors, the current team in the Oakland/San Francisco area. When asked about his childhood in Oakland, Hayes replied, "My favorite thing to do as a kid was get some cream'o'corn and go down to the Oaks game. I miss it so much."
The team was previously known as the San Francisco Saints.
