Oakland Americans
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Oakland Americans were a charter member of the American Basketball Association. Formed in February 1967, the team changed its name to the Oakland Oaks prior to play that fall. The Oakland Oaks played in the league from 1967 through 1969, moved to Washington, DC to play as the Washington Caps in 1969-1970, and then became the Virginia Squires from 1970 through 1976.
