[edit] Mediation

Hi, are you still mediating Wikipedia:Mediation Cabal/Cases/2006-10-20 Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam? --Ideogram 03:35, 4 December 2006 (UTC)

Sure, since you opened it please continue. --Ideogram 03:40, 4 December 2006 (UTC)

Hello Nwwaew! I just came across this case and volunteered as a (co-)mediator. On Wikipedia:Mediation Cabal/Cases/2006-10-20 Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam#Discussion, you wrote that you were busy due to real-life commitments and wouldn't mind the appointment of another mediator; if that is still the case then I'd be happy to take over. Or, if you like, we could mediate this case together. I would also welcome if you could just look over my shoulder and help me occasionally with your experience - e.g. by mail. Thank you! — Sebastian 07:33, 9 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] RE: Your user page template

Well, if you really want to, be my guest (everything I contribute to Wikipedia is BSD licensed ^_^), but I don't recommend it at the moment; it's my first attempt at a user page, and is still a WiP. The code is very messy, and could do with a lot of cleaning up. You're probably better off finding someone else's, or giving me a week or two to get mine sorted ^_^ ShakingSpirittalk 11:22, 4 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] "Schuminweb 2" RFA

First of all, let me say that I'm certainly flattered that you've nominated me for adminship, but at this point, I've chosen to respectfully decline it. In my last RFA, some users suggested that I wait six months to a year before another RFA nomination. I've chosen to go with a medium between the two, and thus I'm going to wait until at least May 2007 (nine months) before I'll consider accepting another nomination.

Once again, thank you for considering me for adminship, and I hope you'll still be thinking about me come May. SchuminWeb (Talk) 03:57, 20 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] User:Nwweaw

Blocked indefiitely. I think any vestige of good faith disappeared when immediately after being blocked they blanked the {{usernameblocked}} from their talkpage (which I reinstated and protected the page). Regards, Tonywalton  | Talk 13:41, 12 January 2007 (UTC)

In fact WP:AIAV is generally appropriate anyway, as the username policy explicitly forbids "Names that can be confused with other contributors". I'm still waiting for a User:Tonwyalton. Can't see it somehow! Cheers, Tonywalton  | Talk 13:49, 12 January 2007 (UTC)
Hmmm. User:SDmozilla has a definite odour of socks about him, judging by the edits to User talk:BorgQueen. Sigh. Tonywalton  | Talk 13:54, 12 January 2007 (UTC)
They've just cut-pasted your userpage onto User:SDmozilla. One block and a sockpuppet tag coming up. Tonywalton  | Talk 13:58, 12 January 2007 (UTC)
On second thoughts I'll just keep an eye. They've now changed their name throughout the page so it doesn't read like a straight copy of yours. Perhaps imitation is the sincerest form of flattery? I've taken the barnstar off that they'd copied along with your page though. Tonywalton  | Talk 14:02, 12 January 2007 (UTC)

45 minutes or ever. I hadn't read your bv tag on their userpage properly, their edits to the Wdefcon template were blatantly after a final warning, so blocked they are. Tonywalton  | Talk 14:23, 12 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] User talk:212.85.28.67

hi, was the message that you left on this ip userpage to do with edits to Chicken, Alaska? If it was, I managed to revert the page to a vandalised version, whilst trying to clear it up, and the vandalism was coming so thick and fast I didn't realise. I also had some problems with my browser not updating correctly, which made things more difficult. If in future when you leave warnings on user pages you could put in which page you are refuring to that is generally helpful.

Thanks user:*Drem* @ 212.85.28.67 15:34, 12 January 2007 (UTC)

Tonywalton  | Talk 14:22, 16 January 2007 (UTC)

Two mistakes, eh? Reminds me of a little rhyme you sometimes see up in a frame in pubs over here
Women, they have many faults, men have only two:
Everything they say, and everything they do
How's the checkuser thing going, by the way? Tonywalton  | Talk 14:29, 16 January 2007 (UTC)
I've just reverted the rather lame "loads of barnstars' joke by User:BrandRadio12 from your your Desk. Someone call a surgeon, as my sides are splitting. Tonywalton  | Talk 14:46, 16 January 2007 (UTC)
Not really enough objective evidence to block them - they've only three edits, only one of which could be classed objectively as vandalism (though I fear that edit might not lead to their checkuser request being viewed in a very favourable light). Tonywalton  | Talk 15:12, 16 January 2007 (UTC)

this thread is creeping too far to the right of the screen!

Mm. I've been wondering about that. If they're all doing this from the same place as you, won't they all have the same (shared) IP address as you anyway? Or am I missing something... Tonywalton  | Talk

Wait a moment, this is confusing. I'll consult with the checkuser. Fut.Perf. 16:09, 29 January 2007 (UTC)
I've asked Luna and jpgordon for clarification. So, you were complaining about a sockfarm involving an impersonator harassing you, and the checkuser came up with declaring you yourself one of the socks? Weird. Fut.Perf. 16:24, 29 January 2007 (UTC)
Okay, jpgordon has indicated what the basis for that diagnosis was: besides your stative IP that you have declared and that is apparently only yours, you were also on two other IPs that were shared by all the other socks. Can you explain? School IP and the other guys are schoolmates of yours? Fut.Perf. 18:20, 29 January 2007 (UTC)
I've unblocked you -- apologies for the misunderstanding. I saw a few red flags, when setting that particular block, and while "checkuser said so" is a tempting (and commonly held) school of thought, we (and I) must always remember to interpret checkuser results in light of the evidence and knowledge we already have. You may share an IP address, but following a review of your many helpful and valuable contributions to the project, I'm happy to assume good faith and reverse my action. Also disabled a few autoblocks, so feel free to email me or request another unblock if you have any more problems with those. If it's any consolation, something similar happened to me, a fair while back. Minor heart attack, but life goes on. Apologies again, and best regards, Luna Santin 19:17, 29 January 2007 (UTC)
Okay, glad this has been cleared up then. Fut.Perf. 12:46, 30 January 2007 (UTC)
