Number One Gun was a Christian rock band from Chico, California, that was most recently signed to Tooth & Nail Records. They self-released their debut EP Forever in 2002, before releasing their follow-up albums Celebrate Mistakes (2003) on Floodgate Records and Promises for the Imperfect (2005) on Tooth & Nail Records.
In 2006, Number One Gun decided to move on to different projects despite their growing success. Their website has been offline for a while. A MySpace bulletin cleared up the state of the band, stating that Schneeweis has a new band called The North Pole Project, Keene and Mallory formed Surrogate, and Sellers plays bass in Armed for Apocalypse.
When Schneeweis was ready to record a The North Pole Project album, Tooth & Nail Records asked him to keep the Number One Gun moniker and release his solo record under the already established name. He is currently in the midst of recording the third Number One Gun album on his own, playing all instruments and producing it himself. Whether the other band members will ever return is yet to be certain. A demo of two of the songs can be heard on the band's MySpace profile.
