Number 31328 is a historical novel by Elias Venezis, subtitled the "book of slavery".

The story starts in Ayvalık (Κυδωνίες). It moves through the first days of the Turkish return to Asia Minor and through the fields of central Turkey towards "Amele Taburu" (Turkish for Labour Battalions).
The life of the slaves is seen through the eyes of one who shared these days. Humans are treated as objects: beaten to death by hammers, lethally wounded and left to die alone, raped and then killed.. [1]
