Talk:Nucleophilic substitution

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

OK, how much does this need to not be a stub, I was doing some studying for an organic chem class and this told me exactly what I wanted. It is short and to the point, but it is basicly complete. Somebody agree that we can remove the stub classification?

[edit] Proposed merger with Nucleophilic substitution reaction

I placed this merger notice, because most of the articles seem to be covering the same material. I personally much prefer this article, but there are things in the other that may be helpful. Comments anyone? Walkerma 04:23, 17 July 2005 (UTC)

I agree with your analysis. I'll try & get more comments, but I expect to implement this in the next few days. Walkerma 17:06, 13 August 2005 (UTC)

The Nucleophilic Substitution page is highly comprehensive, why not put the examples stated in Nucleophilic Substitution Reaction, under Nucleophilic Substitution. Its essential that those examples are added as those examples are classic organic chemistry examples. 6 Sept 2005 Random User

I have made a start on the SN2 reaction (still more to be done there such as SN2', energy curves etc), but this set of articles will take a long time to bring up to scratch, much longer than I expected. Once I have a workable version of SN2 and SN1 pulled together, I will carry out the merge. Thanks for doing the SNi reaction, V8rik! Walkerma 09:34, 24 September 2005 (UTC)

I have done a major rewrite on SN1 reaction, and it is no longer a stub, so now I can finally have a go at this merge, sometime in the next fortnight or so. Walkerma 16:06, 4 October 2005 (UTC)

I have now completed the merge. This page still needs work to include sections such as aromatic substitutions, addition-elimination reactions at C=C and C=O, as well as substitutions at phosphorus, silicon, sulfur, etc. I will try to do these as time allows. These weren't mentioned in the earlier articles so I didn't feel bad about not finishing them. Also, the SN2 article still needs work. Still, we're making progress, at least IMHO.
