Nuclear Electric
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Nuclear Electric was formed as a result of the privisation of the UK Electricity Supply Industry.
When the Central Electricity Generating Board was split up, the power stations were divided between PowerGen and National Power. The Nuclear Stations - Magnox, AGR and the then under construction Sizewell B (PWR) were allocated to National Power in their nuclear division. Following the decision in 1989 not to include the Nuclear Assets in the privisation process at this time, National Power (Nuclear) became Nuclear Electric.
In 1996, the AGR and PWR assets of Nuclear Electric and Scottish Nuclear were combined and privitised as British Energy.
The Magnox assets of both companies were transfered to Magnox Electric, later to become part of British Nuclear Fuels.
