I never saw Char's CounterAttack, what are the Fin Funnels? From what i read, It seems that the DRAGOON system was derived from it? Zer0_Gun

While both are remote weapon, DRAGOON is manual control while fin funnel is psychic control. L-Zwei 11:39, 9 December 2005 (UTC)

Then I'm guessing that probably the DRAGOON was base off it then, considering Gundam Seed has lots similarites to the Universial Century? And it doesn't really descride the Fin Funnels too well so i'm still confuse to how they actully work....can't find a site to download Char's Counterattack. Zer0_Gun

Well, fin funnel is just one of several psycommu remote weapon exist in UC series. DRAGOON is technically closer to shot claw used by Rig Contio (from V Gundam), since both are wireless manual control (and there are also wire shot claw used by Contio, which could be compare to Gunbarrel of SEED) L-Zwei 17:34, 9 December 2005 (UTC)

Yes Gundam SEED derived more from Universal Century than any of the Alternate Universe Gundam's. The Strike Freedom in fact, was originally going to be called "Nu-Freedom" as a tribute to the Nu Gundam. I sort of wish they went with that, it would of been classy. Strike Freedom is such a painfully unoriginal name... Lets just combine the names of Kira's first and second Gundam unit! Ai...

Yeah, the Fin Funnels are mind controlled weapon pods. In the UC timeline, there is a type of human known as a "Newtype", an evolved form of humanity that was created by adaptation to living in space. Basically similar to the Coordinators except that the Newtype phenomenon is completely natural, a sorta miracle of genetics and nature. Also, while the Coordinator's strength lies in their highly improved reflexes, multi tasking ability, calculation, and such the Newtype's strength is far more mental. All of the Newtype's strengths, increased senses, perception, telepathy, a 6th sense of sorts, and massively increased brain function as well as a variety of psychic phenomenon (like Camille summoning the spirits of his dead friends to aid him in the end of Zeta Gundam), are all from the mind. So Newtypes are mind, Coordinator's are more body and impulse. Anyways, I'm rambling. Point is, is that in the UC universe, Newtypes have the ability to use weapons called Funnels, as well as other psychic weaponry. They can mentally control the funnels to do their bidding as opposed to relying on artificial intelligence. In all honesty, the things Funnel users have done kicks the bejezus out of anything DRAGOON has done...but anyways thats the main difference. The Fin Funnels in particular can simply last a lot longer. In all the series', the big problem with Funnels is that they have limited fuel and energy..so they have to dock with the Mobile Suit after a short period of time constantly to sort of "Refuel" their energy. The Fin Funnels all have individual generators so they can stay out far longer, and they also fire stronger beams and can be used in other creative ways as Amuro shows. Looks wise...they look like big uh...twin fins that sorta make a shape like this...

The beam is shot out of the middle...if you have ever seen Macross, they're like miniature versions of the SDF_01's main cannon in how they fire. Just imagine these..
