[edit] Groundskeeper Willy
In the article about Groundskeeper Willy, there is a quote about how the Scots are enemies of many other people groups. Do you know what episode that is taken from? Jlaforteza 16:54, 3 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Use of Image:Hdr-torch.gif
The use of fair use images outside of the main article namespace is proscribed by Wikipedia:Fair use criteria item #9. Arguments based on a presumption that a given copyright holder will not mind the use of their copyrighted material are not an affirmative defense in fair use law proceedings. Barring any proof that the copyright holder has released rights to the image, we must presume that the use of the image here must be under terms of fair use. You can request NYU for permission and/or to release their rights. For example, a user of {{User Tulane}} contacted Tulane's Vice-President of University Communications to request permission for the use of Image:Tulane shield web.jpg, and it was granted. I have reverted your re-insertion of the image onto your userpage. Please do not re-add the image without gaining authorization from NYU to do so. If you have questions about this, I'd be happy to answer. Thank you, --Durin 20:04, 21 July 2006 (UTC)
- You have, despite my informing you of the policy, reverted my removal of Image:Hdr-torch.gif from your userpage. Since you are well aware of the policy as I showed it to you above, you are now willfully violating Wikipedia policy. This is a form of vandalism. If you continue to do this, it may result in you being temporarily blocked from editing Wikipedia. Copyright is a serious issue. There are droves of lawyers that spend their entire careers working on nothing but copyright suits. Wikipedia is a high profile, top 20 website; we draw a lot of attention, and are far from immune to the watchful eyes of lawyers. Wikipedia operates on very small pockets; we can ill afford such a lawsuit even if we won. The policy is not negotiable. Above, I've told you how you can go about getting the image back on your userpage via legal means. I suggest you follow that suggestion if you want to put the image on your userpage. --Durin 01:14, 22 July 2006 (UTC)
- I'm sorry, but Image:Nyu torch.png is a derivative work of Image:Hdr-torch.gif. As such, NYU retains copyright. The image is not usable in userspace. I've placed the message below regarding it's orphan status as a fair use image. --Durin 01:47, 22 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:Nyu torch.png)
This file may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading Image:Nyu torch.png. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image can be used under a fair use license. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --Durin 01:48, 22 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Please be civil
We've had tons of pointless arguing at the reference desk talk page, so please be civil in what you say there. Comments like this serve only to fan the flames. Friday (talk) 20:03, 18 December 2006 (UTC)
- I agree; civility is paramount. --Haizum μολὼν λαβέ 10:52, 22 December 2006 (UTC)
- He means it, too, he will file or endorse an RFC against you, as he did with me, if he feels offended. Still, I'd welcome your contributions to the debate. Just don't do anything that will get Friday mad at you. StuRat 22:01, 18 December 2006 (UTC)
The following exchange was deleted from User_talk:Haizum by User:Haizum, claiming "spam" and "hostile comments". I'm not sure why the user is afraid to have my remarks on record.
[edit] Re: User_talk:Nricardo#Please_be_civil
At User_talk:Nricardo#Please_be_civil, I am unclear as to whom you are referring by "[t]his user". --Nelson Ricardo 11:23, 21 December 2006 (UTC)
- Excuse you. I did not spam you. You left a comment on my talk page. I was uncertain as to whom you were referring. I posted a civil question to clarify. You accuse me of spamming and delete my question. Why don't you try a little civility yourself? --Nelson Ricardo 20:18, 21 December 2006 (UTC)
*** end deleted exchange ***
The funny thing is, this very user states, "And remember, per Wikipedia policy you must ask before you can remove a user's comments" on his user page "Board Rules". I guess policies are beneath him. --Nelson Ricardo 11:59, 22 December 2006 (UTC)
- Hmn, since I was posting to your talk page, I may have been referring to you. I may have. I may have. --Haizum μολὼν λαβέ 00:52, 24 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Clarification for Nelson
- Nelson, it's not complicated. On my talk page you can delete your comments, but you can't delete my comments because it is my talk page and not your talk page. On your talk page, you can remove your comments and you can remove my comments because it is your talk page and not my talk page.
- Similarly, you are allowed to shed tears realizing that I deleted your comments on my talk page, and therefore you are allowed to copy those comments and post them on your talk page so you can have a conversation with yourself. --Haizum μολὼν λαβέ 00:46, 24 December 2006 (UTC)
- You may delete these comments from your talk page, but I will undoubtedly copy them to my talk page where you will be prohibited from deleting them. Good day. [1] --Haizum μολὼν λαβέ 00:48, 24 December 2006 (UTC)
- Hmmmm. I'm a bit confused. If I call you an asshole on my talk page, are you allowed to delete it? --Nelson Ricardo 20:29, 26 December 2006 (UTC)
- BTW, just to clarify, I'm not being hypothetical, you're an asshole. --Nelson Ricardo 20:29, 26 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Civil Rights
Please dont personally attack me. I made a mistake, yes I committed sexual battery on a disabled adult. But you talking to me like that when I was just trying to ask a general question about my civil rights. I think you owe me an apology. Hallibrah 04:05, 22 February 2007 (UTC)

I am not a troll. I am trying to help write some articles and edits and all that. Please be civil. Hallibrah 16:52, 24 February 2007 (UTC)
- I have yet to see anything useful from you. --Nélson Ricardo 03:17, 25 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Road signs in America
Nelson, I thought this obviously must mean a maximum running speed; how else could one read it without local knowledge? - I know Americans hold all the sprint records. But I'll take your word for it. As for the artist/vandal issue; in Ireland we prefer discretionary judgements over mandatory ones. (Sarah777 23:38, 5 March 2007 (UTC))
Welcome to Wikipedia! We welcome your help to create new content, but your recent additions (such as ADERANT) are considered nonsense. Please refrain from creating nonsense articles. [edit] Uncivil behavior
Please remain civil, and refrain from personal attacks, such as the message you left here. This comment will not resolve any issues and is just likley to add fuel to the fire. There are other avenues that are more appropriate that do not resort to Uncivil behavior. -- Chrislk02 (Chris Kreider) 19:31, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
- I dont think he was using a bot to delete pages. I will look through the logs for evidence but it is hard to prove. -- Chrislk02 (Chris Kreider) 19:35, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
- [2] shows he is averaging 2 - 4 deletions per minute. That is consistent with what a Human could do. I am not conviced it is a bot doing it. I would reccomend the reccomendation below, deletion review, because I doubt BetaCommand will undelete it. -- Chrislk02 (Chris Kreider) 19:38, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] ADERANT
You might want to go to Wikipedia:Deletion review if you want the article undeleted, since it doesn't look like the deleting admin will undelete the article. --Conti|✉ 19:35, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
- While I may disagree with the process he used for the deletion, I looked at the deleted article and it appears to fail WP:CORP, and the article made no assertion as to why that company was more notable than any other company. No assertion of notabiluty for a company can be deleted under CSD A7, calling people names and being uncivil about it wont get it back, and actually will probably hurt any chance there are of getting it back. -- Chrislk02 (Chris Kreider) 19:42, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
- Betas actions after the deletion of the article are common practice. You could be a little more WP:CIVIL about it. -- Chrislk02 (Chris Kreider) 16:56, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
- Don't gang up on me. Are you beta's sock puppet or just his bitch? --Nélson Ricardo 16:59, 22 March 2007 (UTC)

- You didn't answer the question, Mary. I am appalled by the questionable activities undertaken by a group of rogue admins. who act as judge, jury, and executioner. --Nélson Ricardo 17:01, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
- Im sorry you disagree with the deletion. I am sure if you look at my record you will find anythiung but rouge. I have deleted hundereds of articles a day, closed hundereds of afd's. It becomes a daily routine. There is nothing rouge about it, it is just how things work. However, calling people peoples bitches is not appropriate, no matter what is going on. If you have issue, bring it up somewhere, ask for help, dont call people names. that is disruptive and uncivil, both of which can eventually get you blocked. -- Chrislk02 (Chris Kreider) 17:03, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
- So far, I've been unsuccesful in getting myself blocked even for a few minutes. I was hoping you would indulge me. (To be technical, I did not call you a bitch, I asked if you were one, but I guess that does not matter.) --Nélson Ricardo 17:08, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
- For the record, I wont personally block you for attacking me. I think that is an abuse of power because my interpreation of an attack on me may be different because it is me that is involved. -- Chrislk02 (Chris Kreider) 17:10, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
- Sounds very reasonable to me, as long as you don't get betacommand to do the block. Thanks. --Nélson Ricardo 17:12, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
